Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14, 1980) was an American actress, singer as well as a dancer. Her early Broadway parts include Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. She received an award from the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for playing Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director, has spent the majority of her career working with well-known directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford next will star opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's exclusive Hulu series Welcome to Chippendales which premieres November 22. Ashford is currently in production for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust starring opposite Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film is an Hulu Original and will be streaming on Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be in the month of March 2023, when he stars opposite Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The same team that created Hamilton producers Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at control of the show. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main actor in Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal actors into the very first impeachment trial in the United States in more than a century. Ashford was a part of two seasons of the popular CBS comedy B Positive. Also, she was a part of the popular series developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured the legendary actresses Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. A veteran of Broadway Ashford has been awarded both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her role as Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the originating part of Lauren of Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway performances. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and is now dividing her time between Los Angeles, and New York.
